Kristi Bates is Sonshine Christian Schools 1st and 2nd grade teacher. She is so excited to be a part of the Sonshine Christian school team! She has 15 years of teaching experience at a charter school in Portland, Oregon, as a kindergarten teacher, first-grade teacher, and Intervention Specialist, and also in the Oregon City School District in Oregon City, Oregon (where she grew up) as an after-school program leader and a Title I reading assistant. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development from Warner Pacific College, a Post-Bacc in Elementary Education from Western Governors University, and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. When she is not teaching or studying, she enjoys spending time with family. She currently lives in Vancouver with her husband, Christian, and her daughters Cassidy and Courtney. Her husband and she both grew up in Oregon but moved to Vancouver, WA about 5 years ago. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity to work at Sonshine Christian. This was truly a calling from God and a way that He has allowed her to incorporate my love for teaching and my Christian faith. 3rd Grade Teacher
Librarian and Academic Support Specialist
Kathleen Johnson is Sonshine Christian School’s librarian and Academic Support Specialist. Kathleen has taught children for over 20 years and has prior experience directing a weekly Children’s Church program, teaching elementary music, serving as Sunday School director, and elementary school librarian. DeeAnne Berglund has over 20 years of experience working with children as a Sunday School Teacher and also as a game leader. DeeAnne loves children and wants to instill in them the importance of being physically fit and healthy. DeeAnne also volunteers her time as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), where she helps to advocate for children in difficult court decisions.
